Mental Health Awareness Month

On March 30th, World Bipolar Day, I shared my bipolar story. And now May is here and it is Mental Health Awareness Month. I've seen the face of tragedy in the wake of mental health, I've lived it in my soul. What gives me hope is seeing people come together out of love. And while mental health affects everyone differently, building a community of support and raising awareness can plant even the smallest seed of hope. Where there is hope beautiful things can happen.
I was overwhelmed by the generosity, support, and love I had received when I shared my story. I had been afraid and ashamed to tell it for so long. But by releasing it, by letting it go, I have found strength I never could have imagined. I've learned a lot in the years since my diagnoses of bipolar II, anxiety disorder, insomnia disorder, and adult ADHD, and yet I will never fully understand them or why they chose me. But it is the people who surround me - my family and friends - that give me the courage to fight every day.
I pray for every soul that is touched by mental health. I pray that continued awareness can make all the difference, even for just one person because every life matters. And I pray that everyone can know that they are loved in both their highest of highs and lowest of lows.
Here is the link to my story if you haven't already read it.
