Vote Your Fave Pitch

no, no, this is no book cover

Okay folks... here's the short story: I got a spot on a webinar with author David Henry Sterry and literary agent/author Arielle Eckstut. What's the big deal?? I get to pitch my novel to them! Well, book one of my series. Which, for the record, now has a title! Hello Convergence, welcome to the world. She can't wait to meet you all. Squirrel! These two awesome-sauce, legit in the industry authors are going to put my pitch to the test and critique it. What works? What is way off the mark? This is where you can insert the teeth biting and pants peeing. Yep, that's me.

All this really means is that I need your help. I know what my book is about. I personally love the story. But I'm totally biased! Plus, I'm not trying to hook my own attention. I'm trying to hook yours! So if you wouldn't mind helping a girl out... mind reading my pitches (there are only 4) and then voting on your favorite? I know, I know, not everyone reads science fiction (I didn't even know I could write it!). Respect. But, if you were to read my book, which would entice you the most? (And yes, they are all very similar in information, but in defense, they are all about the same book, haha! Oh, and I need to include my title, genre, and word count; that's why that's there.)

I'll stop rambling and just let you read. And then vote. Thanks a million!!

Pitch 1
Tala is a woman raised in privilege. The granddaughter of a founder of the Republic of Columbia, a formidable country built on the remains of the former United States, the Princess of the Republic, they call her. Kane is a man from a meager upbringing who has suffered greatly at the hands of the Republic. Now, he lives in the shadows, hiding his deepest secret from the world.
During a brutal attack one night, Tala’s and Kane’s lives unexpectantly collide. It was the universe shifting in a brief moment of time to bring them together. As they dig into the unprovoked attack, they uncover secrets they never expected to find… secrets that will change everything Tala’s known, everything she’s believed, everyone she’s trusted. Together they must discern the truth from the lies, their real allies from their enemies. Tala must decide where her allegiances lie and just how far she’s willing to go to protect what matters most.
In finding Tala, can Kane learn to move beyond his dark past? In finding Kane, can Tala find the strength to step out of her family’s legacy? Tala’s character will be tested as she fights for her people, for humanity, for love. And she will learn that not everyone can be saved.
Convergence is a work of science fiction and the first in a two-part series, 145,000 words.

            Pitch 2
From the outside, Tala lives a life of privilege, the granddaughter of a founder of the formidable Republic of Columbia. But she understands heartache and lives with burdening pressure from her brother to conform to her family’s legacy. Kane is a fisherman’s son with a dark and violent past, sold to the Republic as a boy. Living in the shadows, harboring a dangerous secret, he doesn’t officially exist.
During a brutal attack one night, a shift in the universe sends them on a collision course toward each other, their lives unexpectantly converging in the least likely way. As they dig into the unprovoked attack, they uncover secrets they never expected to find… secrets that will change everything Tala’s known, everything she’s believed, everyone she’s trusted. Together they must discern the truth from the lies, their allies from their enemies. Tala must decide where her allegiances lie and just how far she’s willing to go to protect what matters most.
Tala and Kane quickly discover that no force is strong enough to change the arc of their trajectory. With their world spinning out of control, can Kane finally move beyond his dark past? Can Tala step outside her family’s legacy? With Kane beside her, Tala’s character will be tested as she fights for her people, for humanity, for love.
And she will learn that not everyone can be saved.
Convergence is a work of science fiction, part one in a two-part series, and is approximately 145,000 words.

Pitch 4
A single lie is all that is needed to plant a seed of doubt in everything.

Together they dig into the unprovoked attack, uncovering deeply buried secrets and lies that change everything Tala’s ever believed, everything she’s ever known, and everyone she’s ever trusted. Together they must discern the truth from the lies, their real allies from their enemies. Tala must decide where her allegiances lie and just how far she’s willing to go to protect what matters most.
