You are the dreamer of your dreams.
That sentence has been hanging on my heart lately. So much so that I feel compelled to write an entire post about it and share it with you! I know my dreams are wild, and crazy, and BIG! And you know what? I love that! They motivate me and excite me! Yes, I still hear the voice of doubt creeping into my thoughts, but when I do, I take a deep breath and swallow that fear. Changing your thoughts about your abilities to make something happen is the first step to actually taking a step in the direction of our dreams. It's our fear of the uncertainty that holds us back. We've got it in us to make whatever dreams we have a reality. Let me repeat... we already have within us what it takes to bring those dreams to fruition. But so often, we let those voices of fear, disappointment, and failure steer the direction we go in. Let go of the negativity.
Sit down and make a list of all of the negative thoughts you can think of... here are some of mine:
1) I don't like my body
2) I'm not a good writer
3) I am broken
4) My dreams are too crazy
Those a pretty depressing... and I'm sure not many people's negative thoughts look much prettier.
Now that I have a list (my list, for the record, is much longer), write a counter-thought for every single one of those thoughts.
1) This body is strong and has endured a lot!
2) I have published books and a blog, all of which have loyal fans and followers!
3) I am uniquely made - the only version of me that was ever and will ever be created!
4) God/Universe gave me those specific dreams that are in my heart for a reason!
With number 4... I think we all have had that thought at one point or another. The key is to remind ourselves that no one dreams our dreams the way we do. No one can make those dreams a reality like we can. Use your counter-thoughts every day... every time you hear those negative thoughts come creeping in. Hang onto your counter-thoughts until the bad ones begin to dissipate. Until your bad thoughts no longer make you small. Until the good thoughts are habitual to you. And be brave. Believe in yourself and your abilities. Have faith that you are enough. I am telling you right now... You. Are. Enough.
I’ve only read 2 posts so far! I just found this blog and I already feel empowered from reading them. You are a light and an inspiration, Thank You! Xox
